We recently completed a new, fully responsive website for Cathedral Building Services (CBS), a company that has been acquired by our long-term client, Dante Group. The goal was to replace the outdated CBS website with a fresh, modern design that would reflect the company’s current services and future growth.
From Design to Development: A Streamlined Process
We began the project by creating website visuals in Adobe XD, presenting CBS with a detailed storyboard that conveyed our vision for their new site. Once the wireframe was approved, we moved into development, building a website that showcases CBS’s services while providing a seamless user experience.
The new website features a services overview, an updated contact page with a map and form, and is secured with the latest Google reCAPTCHA technology to reduce spam submissions.
Performance and Speed Optimization
Optimising for performance was a key focus. We developed the site using PHP8.1, ensuring fast load times, and optimised all images to the latest WEBP format. As a result, the website scores an A on GTMETRIX, with a 100% performance score, a 98% structure score, and loads in just 1.2 seconds.
Analytics and Conversion Tracking
To ensure CBS could track key data, we installed Google Analytics 4 (GA4) via Google Tag Manager, replacing the soon-to-be-retired Universal Analytics. We also set up conversion tracking for critical actions such as clicks on phone numbers, email addresses, and contact form submissions. We do offer a GA3 to GA4 replacement service for those that are keen on their analytics.
Security and Cloud Services
With the growing threat of DDoS attacks, we enhanced CBS’s website security by routing their domain through Cloudflare. We implemented the Cloudflare Web Application Firewall (WAF) alongside WordPress-specific security rules, further boosting the site’s protection. The Content Delivery Network (CDN) provided by Cloudflare also improved loading speeds and overall site performance.
