Charity Volunteer Poster & Leaflet

At NW Design, we take great pride in supporting local charities through impactful design work. Recently, we were honoured to create a volunteer recruitment poster and leaflet for St Joseph’s Hospice in Liverpool. Our goal was to design a visually engaging and effective poster that would help the hospice attract a diverse range of volunteers, whether in their hospice, charity shops, or out in the community.

The Design Approach: Simple, Yet Powerful

When designing for charities, it’s essential to strike a balance between clarity, appeal, and purpose. For St Joseph’s Hospice, we opted for a clean and approachable design that would resonate with a wide audience. The layout was kept simple to ensure the message was clear: volunteering is an opportunity to make a real difference in the community, gain new skills, and meet like-minded people.

Key Elements of the Poster and Leaflet Design

  • Bold Headline: The poster’s main message, “Make a Difference: Volunteer with Us,” was set in bold typography, making it instantly clear and appealing.
  • Emotive Imagery: Visuals play a vital role in evoking emotions and encouraging action. We included warm, friendly images of volunteers interacting with patients and the community to highlight the human aspect of their work.
  • Call-to-Action: A clear call-to-action at the bottom of the poster and leaflet invited potential volunteers to get in touch or visit the hospice’s website for more information. This was paired with icons for phone, email, and web to make contacting the hospice as easy as possible.

Highlighting the Benefits of Volunteering

In both the poster and the accompanying leaflet, we highlighted the many benefits of volunteering with St Joseph’s Hospice. These include:

  • Making a Difference: Volunteers are the backbone of community organisations like St Joseph’s Hospice, and the opportunity to contribute positively to people’s lives is a key motivator.
  • Learning New Skills: Volunteering isn’t just about giving back; it’s also a chance for personal growth. Volunteers can learn valuable skills, whether working directly with patients, assisting in the hospice’s charity shops, or helping out at community events.
  • Meeting New People: Volunteering is also a social experience, offering a chance to connect with a network of like-minded individuals who share a passion for making a difference.
